Sakalava Fitampoha ceremony

The Fitampoha ceremony or Bath of the Sakalava Royal Relics consists of washing relics of ancient kings in the Tsiribihina River on Ampasy Island near Belo sur Tsiribihina, the ceremony of fitampoha is celebrated every five years and lasts for one week except fady days. or banned on Mondays and Wednesdays. The fitampoha translates into bathing royal relics, zebu sacrifices, folk dances or kilalaky, songs, « tromba » whose deaths speak through possessed and sexual orgies that symbolize chaos in the beginning before the arrival of the sovereign « zanahary » or God.
